The new film Cocaine Bear has become a popular topic for moviegoers. Of course, this is partly due to the fact it’s based on a real-life bear that died from a cocaine overdose. It’s this real-life “Cocaine Bear” that’s now set to officiate a Kentucky couple’s wedding.
The real-life bear is currently kept in a museum in Lexington, Kentucky. The taxidermy bear was initially found dead from a cocaine overdose in 1985. An autopsy revealed that its entire stomach was loaded with the drug. The 175-pound bear was eventually stuffed and transported through several museums over the years. Now, however, it’s the bear’s location in Lexington that will make it part of the aforementioned couple’s wedding.
Alexandra and Armando chose to have the bear officiate their wedding at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall. And, as shared by TMZ, the museum’s co-founder Griffin VanMeter released a statement via Roadside America which apparently sparked the couple’s plan.
Here’s what he initially stated:
“As long as you feel that the person marrying you — like Cocaine Bear — has the authority, then that marriage can be binding here in Kentucky.”
Now Alexandra and Armando clearly do feel like Cocaine Bear has the authority to officiate their wedding. So, on March 27, the two will begin their special ceremony. Additionally, the entire museum is apparently going to be decorated for the event, with plenty of flowers and glowing hearts on display. The couple is said to be inviting anyone to attend their union.
Meanwhile, for those fans who won’t be able to attend, there’s still the Cocaine Bear movie playing in theaters. Of course, the film took some creative liberties regarding the historical events, but it’s still a fun time in the theater.
Elizabeth Banks directed the film. Jimmy Warden penned the screenplay for the film based on the surprising true story. Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Aditya Sood produced the film for Lord Miller. Meanwhile Elizabeth Banks, Brian Duffield and Max Handelman produced the film for Brownstone Productions. Robin Fisichella and Nikki Baida are attached to the film as executive producers.
The cast of Cocaine Bear includes Keri Russell, Margo Martindale, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kristofer Hivju, Kahyun Kim, Christian Convery, Brooklynn Prince and Scott Seiss. Late actor Ray Liotta also makes an appearance.
