The Room director Tommy Wiseau has been teasing his second feature film, titled Big Shark, for the last several years. Now, as you can see in the trailer below, Big Shark is finally arriving this year.
As shared by Variety, the film involves three characters named George, Patrick, and Tim that must battle a “big shark” in New Orleans. It’s definitely a different kind of film than The Room. But no doubt fans of killer shark films – and especially those of the B-Movie variety – will be pleased.
Tommy Wiseau both wrote and directed Big Shark. He stars in the horror film as well, alongside Isaiah LaBorde and Mark Valeriano. It’s unknown if Greg Sestero will be involved with the film as previously teased.
The release details have been shared as follows:
“‘Big Shark‘ will kick off its rollout on April 2 with a debut screening at Cinema 21 in Portland, Ore. Screenings will follow over the coming months, with a tentative schedule of engagements hosted by Prytania Theatres at Canal Place in New Orleans (April 28 and 29), the Balboa Theatre in San Francisco, Calif. (May 5 and 6), the Landmark Westwood in Los Angeles (June 2 and 3) and the Village East by Angelika in New York City (August 10, 11 and 12).”
Here’s the official trailer for Big Shark:
Wiseau has been involved with several other projects in recent years. Though most recently his work on The Room became the subject of the 2013 book The Disaster Artist. The book was penned by his co-star from The Room, Greg Sestero, and later became the subject of the 2017 film of the same name from James Franco.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on Big Shark and Tommy Wiseau as we have them. For now, however, it looks like this will be quite the occasion for fans of The Room. Especially given that this will be Wiseau’s first directorial credit since the cult classic melodrama premiered.
