Fans at SXSW were treated to quite the treat with the first screening of Evil Dead Rise. Unfortunately, one heckler managed to disrupt the event, which included the presence of several film franchise cast and crew members. Bruce Campbell appeared among them and took the opportunity to kick the Evil Dead Rise heckler out of the building.
It’s a display that only Bruce Campbell could pull off. Fans were immediately pleased to have the king himself order the disrespectful attendee to leave. Additionally, the moment was recorded and shared to social media, so you can see the altercation happen in its entirety.
As comically noted in the caption for the Evil Dead Rise heckler video:
“Someone got possessed at the Evil Dead Rise premiere.”

Furthermore, preceding Bruce Campbell’s response is this hilariously genuine question from producer Rob Tapert:
“I don’t get it. He waited all the way through the credits!”
Naturally, fans didn’t receive an answer from the heckler, with many assuming he had too much to drink. It’s certainly unfortunate that he chose to behave that way for a screening of Evil Dead Rise – among the cast and crew, no less – but Bruce Campbell and co seem to have handled it well. Hopefully the positive responses from the rest of the audience and fans online have made up for the heckler’s actions. If nothing else, it’s another example as to why Bruce Campbell is such a legend in person as he is on film.
Lee Cronin directed the film while original Evil Dead veterans Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert produced the film.
The film’s cast includes Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, as well as Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Mia Challis, and Nell Fisher.
Fans can currently expect Evil Dead Rise to be released exclusively in theaters on April 21, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
