The Netflix series Daredevil is being retooled as the brand-new Disney Plus show Daredevil: Born Again. The series will feature a few familiar faces, including Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, though it’s now been revealed that there will be some recasts as well. So far, it’s been shared that Sandrine Holt will be playing Vanessa Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again.
This news comes via THR. Interestingly, Vanessa Fisk was previously played by Ayelet Zurer. It’s currently unknown why exactly she was replaced by Sandrine Holt for Daredevil: Born Again, however, which could result in several different reasons being given. For example, it could be used to signify that Daredevil: Born Again – by being set in the MCU – takes place in a different universe than the original Netflix series. This would mean some characters are going to be played by the same cast members – while others will be recast, presumably just because they’re “variants.”
Of course, it could also be the simple matter that Zurer was unavailable to reprise her role. We’ll have to see what information continues to come to light and whether or not other characters could be recast. On that note, it was also shared that Michael Gandolfini and Margarita Levieva have joined the cast, though their characters are still unknown.
The series is currently being shot in New York as of this writing. We should have more details in the near future. Hopefully we’ll have a better understanding soon as to how Daredevil: Born Again will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and what elements will carry over from the Netflix series.
The rest of the confirmed cast for Daredevil: Born Again includes Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal. The characters are going to reprise their roles as Daredevil, Kingpin, and Punisher, respectively. Hopefully with production now underway, it won’t be long before we learn what other cast members are involved.
The upcoming Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to be released in early 2024. The first season of the series is currently set to contain eighteen episodes. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the highly-anticipated MCU series as we have them.
