The film Cocaine Bear has been a massive success. The film has already earned more than $53 million at the box office. As such, a new horror film subgenre of killer animals fueled by drugs has arrived. Naturally, this means that sharks have to get involved – and thus Cocaine Shark was created.
As you can see in the trailer below – a low-budget indie from Wild Eye Releasing combines sharks with cocaine. It’s an appropriate combination considering how many low-budget killer shark movies have been made over the last few decades. But for one that’s trying to cash-in on a film titled Cocaine Bear – it’s all the more ridiculous. And thus fans of these types of movies will have quite the evening with this film from low-budget filmmaker Mark Polonia.
As for the plot of the film:
“A mafia drug lord has unleashed a new, highly addictive stimulant on the streets called HT25, derived from sharks held captive in a secret lab, and which causes monstrous side effects. After an explosion and leak at the lab, an army of mutated, bloodthirsty sharks and other creatures are set loose on the world.”
Here’s the official trailer for Cocaine Shark:
The movie was directed by Mark Polonia from a screenplay penned by Bando Glutz.
The cast of Cocaine Shark includes Samantha Coolidge, Ryan Dalton, Natalie Himmelberger, Titus Himmelberger, Jeff Kirkendall, Noyes J. Lawton, Kyle Rappaport, and Ken Van Sant.
The film is expected to arrive soon – though a specific release date has yet to be revealed. It certainly looks like an interesting addition to the killer animal subgenres mentioned above. One must admire the success that Cocaine Bear is finding to launch such a selection of imitators.
