The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown quite far from the early days of Iron Man and Captain America. Now the MCU has been gradually introducing a brand-new roster of superheroes. As such, it looks like a new Avengers team is coming to the MCU as well.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed as much while speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. As noted via ScreenRant, he discussed that this new team will be introduced in the upcoming film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Here’s what he had to share:
“There’s nothing in any way inherently off in terms of the Marvel brand. I think we just have to look at what characters and stories we’re mining. If you look at the trajectory of Marvel in the next five years, there will be a lot of newness. We’re going to turn back to the Avengers franchise with a whole new set of Avengers, for example.”
It’s an interesting promise – especially when you consider how many superheroes the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced. It isn’t as if there are only a couple of films to choose from – there’s now a plethora of Disney Plus shows featuring fan-favorite heroes as well. We could see any number of these characters – and perhaps even their variants – introduced as members of a new Avengers team.
Additionally, the team could also include familiar faces from the past. We could very well see characters like Spider-Man or Sam Wilson’s Captain America join the group. Furthermore, classic Avengers members could also make a return. It’s just clear that whatever roster does end up on the big screen – it will be much different and way bigger than the Avengers teams we’ve had in the past.
