Jake Gyllenhaal is set to play the role of ex-UFC fighter Elwood Dalton. The character is a new take on James Dalton, the role once played by Patrick Swayze in the 1989 film Road House. Now with Jake Gyllenhaal in the role – it’s clear he has big shoes to fill – though his new transformation suggests he’s up for the challenge.
Gyllenhaal, having been busy with the production of the film, has clearly put on the muscle required for the role. It’s no joke when he demonstrates his new physique at a UFC event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The actor was spotted shooting a scene with UFC fighter Jay Heiron and it’s quite the scene.
Here’s actor Jake Gyllenhaal and his epic new transformation as you can see below:

Hopefully we’ll have additional looks at the film in the near future. For now, it’s interesting to see an 80’s classic such as Road House finally reimagined. It remains to be seen whether or not the film captures the hearts of audiences in the same way that the original did. But Gyllenhaal is clearly willing to try. One has only to applaud him for having gone to such lengths for his part in the film.
The upcoming Road House remake is directed by Doug Liman. The screenplay was written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.
In addition to Jake Gyllenhaal, the cast for the Road House remake also includes Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, Bob Menery, and UFC champion Conor McGregor.
While the film doesn’t yet have a release date, it’s expected to premiere on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding this project as we have them.
