Horror fans will often recognize Sam Raimi for creating the Evil Dead multimedia franchise. Though in 2009 he directed a successful horror offering titled Drag Me to Hell. The film did end on a definitive note – but Raimi has now teased the possibility of a Drag Me to Hell sequel.
Sam Raimi discussed as much while speaking on a Reddit AMA chat. Though there isn’t anything official in the works, he does have a team of writers working on a possible story. So it seems more likely than ever that a Drag Me to Hell sequel could happen in the near future.
Here’s what he was able to share:
“The team at Ghost House Pictures: Romel Adam and Jose Canas, are trying to come up with a story that would work and I’m anxious to hear if they do!”
It’d certainly be exciting to see what potential story they can cook up. After all, the original film ends with Alison Lohman’s character Christine being dragged to Hell. But as the original Evil Dead film has proven – there are ways to figure out a sequel. Fans will recall that Ash was seemingly killed at the end of the film – and the sequel even has him possessed by the opening. But decades later the character became the protagonist of his own television series. So anything is possible.
Fans have pitched their own ideas for a Drag Me to Hell continuation for years now. This included variations of having Justin Long’s character try and save his love interest from Hell. Others have suggested that the film actually takes place within the Evil Dead universe. So there’s certainly no shortage of possibilities to choose from.
