The Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again is already bringing back Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. The two actors previously played each of these roles in Netflix’s various Marvel shows. Now it looks like another one of their co-stars – Jon Bernthal – will be reprising his role as The Punisher for Daredevil: Born Again.
This is certainly exciting news for Marvel fans. After all, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher was one of the most acclaimed parts of Netflix’s Marvel shows. Now we can continue to see how the Marvel Cinematic Universe plans to utilize what those shows have already established. As shared via THR:
“Jon Bernthal is returning to his most punishing role.” They continue to note that he “will reprise Frank Castle, aka antihero the Punisher, in Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again for Disney+.”
Furthermore:
“Bernthal joins Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the series, which begins shooting in New York this month.”
Now that production will begin this month, it shouldn’t be much longer before more details are available. Although Marvel was unable to comment at this time, this is something that many fans expected to happen at some point. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher first appeared in the original Daredevil series before getting his own solo spin-off series.
It’s unknown how far the MCU plans to take the character – but it’s nice to know that yet another Netflix character will be making the jump to the growing cinematic universe. At a time where Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have already had a couple of appearances – it’s great seeing that Jon Bernthal will be next. Though they also add that “other actors from the Netflix Daredevil series are not expected to return.” This is bad news for fans of characters like Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, as it’s said they’re “not on the roll call for the Marvel series.”
The upcoming Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to be released in early 2024. The first season of the series is currently set to contain eighteen episodes. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the highly-anticipated MCU series as we have them.
