Everyone’s ready to see Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds come together as Wolverine and Deadpool in Deadpool 3, respectively. Now it looks like we might be getting way more Wolverine than previously thought. Actor Hugh Jackman has just teased that there will be Wolverine variants involved in the new film.
Hugh Jackman teased as much while speaking with La Parisien about his part in Deadpool 3. At a time when both Sony and Marvel are exploring the possibilities of the Multiverse – it’s clear that Deadpool 3 will tie into some of the action. It only makes sense, then, that we could expect some Wolverine variants to join the mix.
Here’s what he teased:
“Yes, it will even be a dual role.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Hugh Jackman has played more than one version of Wolverine in the same film. We’ve already seen it happen with the critically acclaimed movie Logan. Though Deadpool 3 does seem to have the potential for a much crazier take on the concept. Especially with the MCU presumably being involved.
Many details regarding the upcoming sequel are yet to be revealed. But it’s expected that Wolverine and Deadpool will have something of a road trip to go on. And, based on what we do know, it sounds like this road trip could take them through different universes leading into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though we’ll have to wait for more information to know for certain how this new film will play out.
Shawn Levy is set to direct Deadpool 3 from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux previously worked on the film’s screenplay.
The cast of Deadpool 3 so far includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and Emma Corrin as the film’s villain. We’ll likely have additional cast updates soon.
Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the highly-anticipated blockbuster as we have them.
