Disney’s Haunted Mansion attraction has been a major draw for their theme parks. Now the iconic brand is being adapted for the big screen for the first since 2003. As the newly-released trailer for Haunted Mansion reveals, however, this will be a completely new take on the source material.
A more faithful adaptation of the dark ride attraction has been in the works for years now. As such, it’s nice to see that the film is finally only a few months away. The new trailer is an exciting tease for what’s to come – and we should only have more content to share soon.
For now, here’s the first official trailer for Disney’s Haunted Mansion:
Justin Simien directed Haunted Mansion from a screenplay written by Katie Dippold.
The cast for the film includes Rosario Dawson as Gabbie, Lakeith Stanfield as Ben Matthias, Owen Wilson as Kent, Tiffany Haddish as Harriet, Jared Leto as the voice of the Hatbox Ghost, Danny DeVito as a college history professor, Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota, and Chase Dillon as Gabbie’s son. It’s also been revealed that Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, and Hasan Minhaj will be making appearances in the film.
As for the plot of this new take on the iconic property…
“In this mysterious adventure, a doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Chase Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for. Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish) and a crotchety historian (DeVito).”
Fans will be able to see Haunted Mansion in theaters on July 28, 2023.
