Marvel Studios has been busy promoting the upcoming MCU blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. This includes one new poster featuring the film’s cast in some rather interesting poses. Karen Gillan in particular has been the subject of much conversation regarding her awkward pose for the artwork – and now she’s opened up about it.
As you can see below, she shared a video on TikTok where she takes “full responsibility” for the pose. It’s a hilarious response to the chatter about the poster and one can’t help but appreciate Gillan for her humorous outlook.
Here’s what Karen Gillan had to say about the pose:
“Okay, can anybody tell me what I was thinking when I decided to pose like this on an international, worldwide poster that will remain forevermore? I remember doing this pose and thinking, ‘I think I look pretty cool here.’ (laughs) So I take full responsibility for this choice, but oh my God, what am I leaning against? What is my elbow doing?”

Apparently she wanted to “get her weapon” for the pose, but realized she wasn’t armed. As such, she had to improvise. Though she hints her desire about “doubling down” on the pose and that it will even return at some unknown point in time. As such, we’ll have to see if Gillan succeeds in making her unique pose a thing.
Original Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn returned to direct this third installment.
The cast for the upcoming film features returning stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and the voice talents of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. Will Poulter is joining the cast as Adam Warlock.
The highly-anticipated sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released on May 5, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on this upcoming MCU project as we have them.
