Warner Bros Discovery has their DC superhero film franchise moving ahead as the DCU. Some fans, however, would prefer to see Zack Snyder’s continuity make a comeback. This has resulted in a campaign to try and have Netflix buy the SnyderVerse to continue the storyline themselves – and now James Gunn has given a response.
The post which prompted James Gunn to give a response merely included the following hashtag: “#sellthesnyderversetonetflix.” Of course, selling something like that isn’t very simple, and even James Gunn calls it “the wackiest hashtag ever.”
He explained why in the following tweet:
“I have to say, this has got to be the wackiest hashtag ever since 1) Netflix hasn’t expressed any such interest (although we’ve discussed other stuff) & 2) Zack hasn’t expressed any interest & seems to be happy doing what he’s doing (and, yes, we too have talked).”

Another user asked what he and Zack Snyder have talked about. James Gunn gave a rather transparent answer, illustrating that Zack Snyder approves of the DCU going forward and not the SnyderVerse:
“He contacted me to express his support about my choices. He’s a great guy. Again, he seems really happy with the massive world building he’s doing now.”

This certainly isn’t good news for any fans hoping that they could get the SnyderVerse sold to Netflix. After all, as James Gunn explains, Zack Snyder has no interest in continuing the SnyderVerse nor does Netflix want to buy it. On the other hand, he does suggest that he’s had conversations with Netflix regarding “other stuff,” which could mean some exciting new DC projects. We’ll just have to see what happens – either way, it looks like the DCU is where DC is headed full steam ahead.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional DC and DCU updates as we have them. Meanwhile, Zack Snyder is busy making Rebel Moon for Netflix.
