Fans have been looking forward to Deadpool 3 which will feature both Ryan Reynolds as the titular character with Hugh Jackman reprising his iconic role as Wolverine. Now it’s been revealed that The Crown star Emma Corrin has joined the Deadpool 3 cast as the film’s villain.
This news comes via Deadline. However, at this stage of the film’s production, it’s currently unknown which specific character beyond the film’s villain that Emma Corrin will be playing. Speculation back in November pointed to the film’s villain being a character named Danger – but that is only a theory at this point. Given Corrin’s incredible performance in The Crown, it’s certainly exciting to know that her talents will be part of the highly-anticipated Deadpool sequel.
Here’s what else they had to share regarding Corrin’s involvement in the film:
“Marvel has had its eye on Corrin going all the way back to the holidays, but working out what has become a busy schedule for the Emmy nominee had to be overcome before they could fully commit. Arrangements were settled during the past week, and Corrin is on board.”
A few of Corrin’s other notable roles include My Policeman and Lady Chatterley. She’s also attached to a role in Robert Eggers’ upcoming Nosferatu film alongside the likes of Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgård, and Nicholas Hoult. With her growing body of work – it’ll be exciting to see what Emma Corrin has to offer Deadpool 3.
One of the other reasons that Deadpool 3 is such an exciting film, in addition to its cast, is that it will be the first Deadpool film connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have been eager to know how the superhero franchise would begin to reference its newly-acquired X-Men rights beyond the Professor X cameo we’ve had so far in the Doctor Strange sequel. As such, one can only hope we’ll have much more news coming soon.
Shawn Levy is set to direct Deadpool 3 from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux previously worked on the film’s screenplay.
Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the highly-anticipated blockbuster as we have them.
