The decision to premiere The Last of Us Episode 5 on Friday, February 10 at 9:00 PM EST comes because of the Super Bowl. The massive event will take place this Sunday. As such, that’s why HBO has made the decision to shift the release of the fan-favorite show’s fifth episode.
As additionally noted via Deadline:
“The episode will also still air on HBO during its regularly scheduled time on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT.”
Furthermore, this early premiere of the show’s fifth episode won’t have any other impact on the schedule. Any other new episodes of The Last of Us will continue to be released via HBO and HBO Max on Sunday nights. Nevertheless, this certainly makes this coming Friday an exciting day for fans looking to have some early weekend excitement. With a second season of the series on the way and a habit of breaking records – The Last of Us is steadily becoming a major new event series for HBO.
The Last of Us was developed by Craig Mazin who worked alongside Neil Druckmann to write and executive produce. Kantemir Balagov directed the pilot episode with Jasmila Žbanić and Ali Abbasi having directed additional episodes.
The cast of The Last of Us includes Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson, as well as Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce and Anna Torv.
