Disney’s 20th Century Studios had remade another iconic film for Hulu. Many movie fans will remember the 1992 film White Men Can’t Jump which starred Woody Harrelson as basketball player Billy Hoyle in addition to Wesley Snipes as Sidney Deane. Now a remake of White Men Can’t Jump is on the way – and you can see the first look at the film down below.
The newly-released footage features what appears to be all-new iterations of the characters Billy Hoyle and Sidney Deane played by Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls, respectively. As such, fans are no doubt interested in knowing whether or not they’ll capture the chemistry first depicted by Harrelson and Snipes in the original film.
Here’s the footage:
Of course, it’s worth noting that the names of their characters seem to have been changed. Walls’ character is now named Kamal Allen, while the name of Harlow’s character has yet to be revealed. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon. Especially given that the film is only a few months away.
Hopefully the new remake will live up to the reputation created by the original 1992 film. That particular version of the story was both written and directed by Ron Shelton. It managed to bring in $90.8 million at the box office based on a $31 million budget. It’ll be exciting to see, then, just how faithful this upcoming remake will be to its fan-favorite predecessor.
Calmatic directed the upcoming film from a screenplay penned by black-ish creator Kenya Barris with Doug Hall.
The White Men Can’t Jump remake stars Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls. The cast also includes Laura Harrier, Teyana Taylor, Vince Staples, and Lance Reddick.
Fans will be able to stream White Men Can’t Jump via Hulu on May 19, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the film as we have them.
