It’s no surprise that Warner Bros Discovery, HBO Max, and DC have all been in a state of turmoil. Now this has resulted in yet another massive decision. It appears that two major DC favorites have just been cancelled by HBO Max.
We’ve already seen more than a few controversial decisions made by these studios. This includes the cancellation of Batgirl – which was almost entirely finished – and the cancellation of plans to have Henry Cavill return as Superman.
Now HBO Max has cancelled these additional two DC properties which should only add more fuel to the fire. The cancellations have been confirmed via THR.
As you can see below, showrunners Greg Walker and Jeremy Carver were able to confirm the disappointing news. It’s been revealed that none other than Titans and Doom Patrol have been cancelled.
Here’s what Greg Walker had to say:
“I’m immensely proud of our gifted cast, crew, and writing staff and their efforts in bringing to life all forty nine episodes over the last five plus years. I couldn’t have asked for better partners in Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and HBO Max, and from the beginning, Geoff Johns and Akiva Goldsman. I’m incredibly grateful for their unyielding trust throughout this process. Lastly, I have to thank our incredible fans for their continued support, engagement, and the passionate community they’ve built around our show. We have six episodes left to unleash upon the world that we hope will give our beloved characters the creative closure we all know they deserve.”
As for Jeremy Carver, he stated the following:
“To our wonderfully supportive partners at HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and DC Studios, thank you for indulging us these past four seasons. Also, what were you smoking? To our brilliant cast, indomitable crew, fearless writing staff and, most of all, to our beautiful fans: thank you all the more. You made this a once-in-a-lifetime ride.”
Both shows will conclude with their respective fourth seasons. Fortunately, they were crafted with endings in mind following the recent changes at Warner Bros Discovery. James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently reworking the DCU, which includes new films and shows, while HBO Max is in the midst of merging with Discovery Plus.
