The Netflix series Cobra Kai has been renewed for Season 6. However, it’s been revealed in the same announcement that the new Cobra Kai season will also end the series.
Of course, it’s possible that the Cobra Kai characters will return for another iteration. After all, the series itself is a spin-off of The Karate Kid and its sequels. With reports that a new film could be in development – it could very well follow the events of Cobra Kai.
In fact, an official statement from the announcement does tease the potential return of the show’s producers. As shared via executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg:
“We hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the road,” they state.

In addition to the announcement that the sixth season will be the last, and that they hope to tell more stories, they also have some exciting things to share about Season 6. Specifically, they claim that it will be the “BIGGEST SEASON OF COBRAI KAI YET.” It’s certainly a bold statement – but one that fans will likely expect to be true. Especially after the success of the series thus far.
Cobra Kai was initially created for YouTube Red/YouTube Premium for its first two seasons. The series then moved to Netflix and found additional success on the streaming platform. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprised their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the Karate Kid films to appear in the series.
The cast for the series also includes Courtney Henggeler, Xolo MaridueƱa, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio and Dallas Dupree Young. Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith also reprise their roles from the films.
