Fans were surprised by Prey, the stand-alone Predator prequel which debuted on Hulu last year. As such, viewers are eager to know whether or not there will be a sequel to the film. Now star Amber Midthunder has confirmed that there are plans for a Prey sequel.
She revealed as much while speaking at the Critics Choice Awards. As shared via SFF Gazette, however, she also noted that her comments aren’t an official announcement. Nevertheless, it seems like things are headed in a positive direction.
Here’s what Midthunder had to say:
“I don’t have a date for you. This is not an announcement, but I’m not saying it is not,” Midthunder teased. “We talk all the time about a lot of things and that’s probably one. I’m ready. I loved that experience. I love that movie. And I would be happy to, you know, see where else we can take it.”
Hopefully we’ll have more details on that front soon. As mentioned above, Prey had a very successful premiere on Hulu. It only makes sense that Disney and 20th Century Studios would want to continue the momentum.
As for the potential plot of a Prey sequel – that remains unclear. However, the ending of the film did tease that many other Predator ships had arrived. It seems likely that we could see the story start at that moment in time, if not focus on those events from a few years ahead. We’ll just have to see what happens.
Dan Trachtenberg directed Prey from a screenplay written by Patrick Aison.
The cast for Prey includes the aforementioned Amber Midthunder in addition to Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope.
