It was previously announced that the Friday the 13th franchise would be returning with the new television series Crystal Lake. Now we know Scream writer Kevin Williamson will be joining Crystal Lake in addition to original Friday the 13th star Adrienne King.
This was revealed by series showrunner Bryan Fuller at a recent screening for Friday the 13th Part III. Specifically, it looks like Kevin Williamson will be writing an episode of the series. As for Adrienne King, who fans will recognize as Alice from the first two Friday the 13th films, she will appear in Crystal Lake as a recurring character.
Eric Goldman also revealed some interesting details about the progress of the series as revealed at the screening. They note that writing for the series begins in two weeks. He also shared some details about the show’s musical score. Apparently they’ll either pick something modern or music in the style of iconic Friday the 13th composer Harry Manfredini.
Here’s the tweet:
Crystal Lake info from @BryanFuller! They officially start writing in 2 weeks (writers are here in audience). It will have two scores to choose from – a modern one and a classic Manfredini one. Kevin Williamson is writing an episode. Adrienne King will have a recurring role. Yay!

It was also previously revealed that the franchise’s notorious rights issues won’t be a problem for this series. Bryan Fuller confirmed that everything is on the table for the series. Of course, the first season has so far been described as something of a prequel to the original film’s events. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon as the writing process and additional production work continues.
In the meantime, this is certainly an exciting development. After more than a decade of silence, the Friday the 13th franchise is coming back to the screen. And this could be one of the best projects yet.
Crystal Lake will premiere on the Peacock streaming service. A release date for the series has yet to be revealed.
