Ezra Miller has been involved with quite the legal debacle. In October they pled not guilty to felony burglar charges. Now Ezra Miller has decided to enter a guilty plea for trespassing.
This was shared via Deadline, where they noted the actor was “accused of stealing three bottles of liquor – gin, vodka and rum – from the pantry of Stamford, VT, neighbor Isaac Winokur on May 1.” As such, their change-of-plea hearing is scheduled for Friday.
The result of this guilty plea will allow the other charges against Ezra Miller to be waived. As explained:
“The actor, who is repped by attorney Lisa B. Shelkrot, has submitted a Notice of Plea Agreement with the Vermont Superior Court’s Criminal Division to have Counts 1 and 2 of burglary and petit larceny waived.”
The penalty for trespassing, under Vermont, is to be “imprisoned not more than 3 months or fined not more than $500.00 or both.” However, Miller’s base fine includes a $192 surcharge – meaning the actor has to pay a $692 penalty.
The other penalties mentioned include the following:
“Count 1 of burglary into an occupied dwelling carried a penalty of not more than 25 years or fine not to exceed $1,000 or both in the Green Mountain State. Count 2, petit larceny, carries a penalty of not more than one year, a fine of up to $1,000 or both.”
Ezra Miller has previously made apologies for his recent behavior. Additionally, the actor was said to have spoken with Warner Bros. motion picture chairs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy. As such, it’s expected that the upcoming film The Flash will proceed as planned. As for the actor’s future in the DCU, however, that remains to be decided.
It all likely depends on how Miller continues to behave and how well-received The Flash becomes. If the film is a success, then it’s very possible that James Gunn and Peter Safran could have Ezra Miller come back for another round as the character. Otherwise, they may recast the role for their newly-established DCU.
