Ari Aster has gained plenty of recognition over the years for his films Hereditary and Midsommar. Now the fan-favorite horror filmmaker is back with the upcoming film Beau is Afraid. As you can see below, the first official trailer for Beau is Afraid has just been released.
Additionally, the film comes from A24 which Aster previously worked with to produce both of his previous works. It’s clear that they have quite the partnership going on. So, with that in mind, this upcoming film should be yet another exciting venture for the two.
Interestingly, it was initially set to be titled “Disappointment Blvd” until A24 renamed the project. This only added to the mystique surrounding the film. Now that we have the first trailer, however, some of the veil has been lifted.
The new film stars Joker actor Joaquin Phoenix and appears to feature the actor through a variety of different years. The cast also includes Parker Posey, Amy Ryan, Richard Kind, and Nathan Lane.
Here’s the new official Beau is Afraid trailer:
This definitely appears to be a sign that 2023 will continue to be a great year for horror. We’re already off to a great start with the release of M3GAN. Hopefully we’ll continue to see some fantastic original properties distributed throughout the year. And, if this trailer is any indication, fans of Hereditary and Midsommar should be in for a real treat with Beau is Afraid. Of course, we’ll just have to wait for when the full film is released.
The upcoming surrealist comedy horror film was both written and directed by Ari Aster.
Fans will be able to see Beau is Afraid on April 21, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the film and Ari Aster’s other projects as we have them. For now, this new trailer teases quite a different style of project from Aster.
