Fans have been eagerly awaiting an announcement for Wednesday Season 2. Although it seemed like a sure thing, it’s often difficult to predict when something will be renewed or cancelled in this day and age.
However, excitingly enough, Netflix has unveiled a brand-new video to make their official announcement. Wednesday Season 2 is officially happening. Furthermore, the new season will premiere on Netflix as opposed to reports that it could potentially be released via Prime Video.
This is an exciting time for fans of the series. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon. For now, fans can see Netflix’s announcement video down below.
Here’s the Wednesday Season 2 announcement:
“More misery is coming,” begins the announcement. “The global phenomenon will return for season two.”
Fans were then treated to footage from both the series and its real-life impact. Many fans from across the world have clearly fallen in love with Wednesday and Jenna Ortega’s take on the character. The new announcement demonstrates this by showing cosplayers, crowds at premieres, and other such events where filmmaker Tim Burton himself appeared.
Of course, as of this writing, it’s unclear what direction the second season could go in. The first season was left somewhat open-ended, and as such, the possibilities are quite limitless. Now that we know the second season is happening though, it shouldn’t be long before more details are released. For now, it’s merely a great time to celebrate the new announcement.
In addition to Jenna Ortega as the titular character, the cast of Wednesday includes Gwendoline Christie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Fred Armisen, and Christina Ricci.
Fans can currently view the entire first season of Wednesday on Netflix. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the series as we have them. For now, however, it’s great knowing that Wednesday Season 2 is officially announced and coming to Netflix.
