It’s been unclear whether or not Ezra Miller would return to the DCU following their upcoming appearance in The Flash. Especially given the actor’s recent legal troubles. However, it appears that a return is actually in the cards.
It’s been clear with new DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran that they have no problem removing actors from the DCU. As such, many fans expected that Ezra Miller would be a goner. According to Variety, however, this isn’t quite the case.
It’s actually been stated in their new report that several Warner Bros executives are “amenable to continuing with the actor” following the release of The Flash. It seems that would imply, depending on how things turn out, that Ezra Miller might actually return as The Flash after all.
With that said, it’s unknown which executives the report is referring to. Additionally, there has yet to be any confirmation from Ezra Miller, Warner Bros Discovery, or their representatives on the matter.
Especially as James Gunn has already faced criticism for deciding to move forward without Henry Cavill’s Superman, it’s possible that he’d face additional backlash for allowing Ezra Miller to stay attached as The Flash. Of course, with everything in such an early stage, it’s hard to tell what the ultimate game plan is.
Hopefully we’ll have a clearer idea by the time The Flash hits theaters. Until then, however, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
The DC superhero film The Flash was directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay written by Christina Hodson. The story for the film was penned by John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, and Joby Harold.
The cast includes Ezra Miller, Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle, and Ben Affleck.
Fans will finally be able to see the new film hit theaters this year on June 16, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the project as we have them.
