The Evil Dead franchise is making an extreme comeback with the all-new horror film Evil Dead Rise. Originally slated for a release on HBO Max, the new film will instead be arriving in theaters. Now the first trailer for Evil Dead Rise has been released online.
As you can see below, the teaser is chock-full of intense scares and violence. It’s clear that this film will not be skimping on any of the gore that Evil Dead fans have come to recognize in the long-running franchise. Furthermore, the film notably takes place outside the traditional cabin-in-the-woods setting from most of the original films.
Instead, Evil Dead Rise will be taking place in a high-rise apartment building. This will without a doubt mark a new era for the beloved film series and give fans their fix following the cancellation of Ash vs Evil Dead.
Here’s the Evil Dead Rise teaser trailer (along with the green band trailer that was released too):
Thankfully, fans only have a few months to wait before the film hits theaters. And, judging by the quality of this teaser, it’ll be the perfect kind of horror movie to see on the big screen. While a release on HBO Max would have still been appreciated, this is certainly the best possible route for this film to take. And, as Evil Dead fans know, that franchise deserves nothing less than the absolute best treatment. Hopefully this new entry delivers on that front as this teaser suggests it will.
Lee Cronin directed the film while original Evil Dead veterans Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert produced the film.
The film’s cast includes Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, as well as Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Mia Challis, and Nell Fisher.
Fans can currently expect Evil Dead Rise to be released exclusively in theaters on April 21, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
