Netflix has had plenty of hits throughout the past year. Now, however, the latest top Netflix series has already been surpassed.
This may be shocking considering how much of a viral sensation the prior top series has become. It’s certainly proven to be one of Netflix’s biggest titles since the debut of Stranger Things.
Of course, that’s the way streaming tends to go these days. Now a certain spooky and kooky girl is falling off the charts to make room for another.
With more than a month at the top of Netflix, it’s been revealed that the Addams Family series Wednesday has been knocked off the top spot via FlixPatrol. The series which replaced it at the top spot in the world? It’s none other than the third season of Emily in Paris.
The latest season of Emily in Paris debuted on Netflix not long ago – on December 21, 2022. As such, it’s quite a surprise to see it surpass Wednesday so quickly. Of course, as mentioned, Wednesday maintained its top position at Netflix for more than a month. So perhaps that had something to do with it.
Interestingly, the two shows are quite different from one another. Wednesday obviously focuses on the titular character from The Addams Family. Unlike past incarnations, however, Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday is thrown into a much darker and dangerous world. It’s there that she enters Nevermore Academy to follow in the footsteps of her parents and solve a series of murder mysteries.
As for Emily in Paris, we follow twenty-something Emily who starts out as a marketing executive in Chicago. As the title suggests, however, she ultimately moves to Paris for her dream job at a marketing firm. It’s quite a different aesthetic from Wednesday, but as we approach the end of December, perhaps it’s time for the next big thing.
With that in mind, though, it’ll be interesting to see how long Emily in Paris holds the top spot. Especially with the success of Wednesday – it’s clear that Netflix might’ve landed one of their biggest titles alongside Stranger Things and Squid Game.
