Unlike Daredevil and Jessica Jones, which were some of Marvel’s most acclaimed Netflix shows, Iron Fist became one of the most hated. The series starred Finn Jones as the titular character aka Danny Rand. Now Finn Jones wants to return as Iron Fist so that he can prove his doubters wrong.
This was revealed by the actor while speaking with Geekscape Podcast. They asked if he’d ever be open to returning to the role. Interestingly enough, his answer was quite in-depth.
Here’s what he had to share:
“Of course I would [return]. I’d love another chance,” Jones began. “I care about [Danny Rand] deeply. I believe in that character, I believe there is a lot of work that can be done…I love the ability to prove someone wrong. And I want to prove all those [doubters] wrong. I know I have it in me, and I know I can give the Danny Rand performance that fans want.”
Furthermore, he has his own ideas for what project would be best. Specifically, he’d like to return for a Heroes for Hire series alongside the likes of Mike Colter as Luke Cage. Furthermore, he throws Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing into the mix. It turns out that Jones would love to see her involved as well.
“Over the course of seasons of television and films, you see [Danny, Luke and Colleen] come back together in a dynamic and real way,” he noted. “It allows for Danny to have redemption. It allows for Colleen and Iron Fist to have her moment. For me, that makes the most creative sense. It’s all there. The possibility is all there.”
Finn Jones clearly has some solid ideas about returning as Iron Fist. Unfortunately, those ideas aren’t exactly his choice to make. It all depends on where Marvel Studios decides to take the character next. And, of course, whether or not that includes a recast or replacement.
For example, recent Iron Fist comics feature Danny Rand acting as a mentor for newcomer Lin Lie. It’s possible that the MCU could take this route and make her, as played by an Asian actor, the new Iron Fist. For now, however, it’s great seeing how much enthusiasm Finn Jones clearly has for the character.
