Fans are ecstatic to have Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine for Deadpool 3. Especially after Logan was expected to be his final outing as the character. Now Hugh Jackman has discussed whether or not he’ll return as Wolverine in any other future projects.
After all, the Marvel Cinematic Universe certainly has room for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. With the Multiverse coming into full swing – the possibilities seem endless. Now Hugh Jackman has discussed as much with the Empire Film Podcast.
Here’s what Hugh Jackman had to say after being asked about returning as Wolverine again after Deadpool 3:
“I imagine every movie as a one and done, that’s how I see it. I’ll be honest I had a two picture deal at the beginning, but I still assumed it was a one and done.”
He then explained how different it was when he first started out as the character. And, of course, how that’s continued to shape the way he views returning to the role.
“You know back then there were no comic book movies, so I just take it one at a time. I’m lucky that way, I don’t have to think beyond that but I think it’s the best way to go.”
With that said, it looks like it could go either way. If Hugh Jackman is asked to return for the right project following Deadpool 3 – then we could just have more Wolverine in the future. Otherwise, Marvel could always introduce a new Wolverine actor to interact in the rest of their shared universe. We’ll just have to see what happens.
Shawn Levy is set to direct Deadpool 3 from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux previously worked on the film’s screenplay.
Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the highly-anticipated blockbuster as we have them.
