Now that Marvel has explored more than a few superheroes from their comic book catalogue, they’ve began to explore more of their villain characters. Now it appears a new villain project is reportedly in the works at Marvel Studios.
The villain-focused film Thunderbolts is on the way. With a 2024 release date, plenty of rumors have suggested that an evil Superman-like villain would be appearing. Now this report that Sentry is coming to the MCU only makes the rumors that much more convincing.
With that in mind, the Marvel villain project could likely be a spin-off of Thunderbolts – something that would mark a drastic change for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as fans already likely know, but Marvel Studios seems to be taking the franchise in a different direction.
The new report, via insider Daniel Richtman, suggests that the new Marvel villain project will focus on the character Sentry. For fans of the comics, they know just how exciting of a possibility that is.
Sentry is known for having acquired his powers from a serum much like the one that gave Captain America his powers. However, unlike Captain America, the character has something of a dark side. Interestingly, the character has two sides to him.
The public often sees Sentry as a normal superhero. However, he has another side – a physical manifestation of evil – that’s called the Void. And this particular manifestation is so powerful that it’s considered a threat to all of humankind. As such, he’s an interesting character to explore. And we could be seeing him first in a project we already know about.
Hopefully we’ll have more details soon. There are plenty of possibilities for this character. Especially given that the Multiverse Saga is growing to involve such epic storylines as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on this potential Marvel villain project as we have them. For now, however, it would be quite exciting to see Sentry on the screen – whether that means theaters or on television.
