Before Disney acquired them, 20th Century Fox did its best to develop a number of X-Men spin-off films. These plans included a Gambit movie that would have starred Channing Tatum. Although the film was never made, concept art for Gambit has now surfaced online.
Many fans wanted to see the Gambit film happen – as did attached star Channing Tatum. Unfortunately, the project simply never materialized. Though the newly-surfaced concept art has brought to line many new details about the film.
The artwork comes via Senior Illustrator and Storyboard Artist Anthony Winn. He shared the storyboard frames he drew up via ArtStation and now they’ve been quickly spreading across the internet.

This is, unfortunately, where the images stop. But it certainly illustrates what the Gambit movie could’ve been. Fans are no doubt still upset that the film never had the opportunity to get off the ground.
Additionally, it’s disappointing to think that Channing Tatum never had the chance to play Gambit. Of course, there are still a few possibilities for the actor to appear as the character. Especially with the current direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
For starters, the Fox universe is still being acknowledged via the Multiverse. We already saw Patrick Stewart appear as a variant of Professor X for the Doctor Strange sequel. Similarly, we’re about to get Deadpool 3, which will include Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. It’d certainly make a great last-minute way to show off Channing Tatum’s Gambit.
Otherwise, the character could appear in Avengers: Secret Wars for a cameo appearance. The film is said to feature a number of superheroes from across the Multiverse – so we expect plenty of unexpected cameos and special moments. As always, we’ll just have to wait and see.
