Fans are looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. However, it looks like there will be some tears shed from Marvel fans in the audience. James Gunn has teased that there will be at least one major death in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.
James Gunn shared a poster for the film on Instagram, where he noted that it marks the “end of an era.” One fan attempted to argue against this.
As you can see below, they wrote the following:
mrsi6733: “Not really an end of an era as Marvel will continue making guardians films and including the characters in films like Thor: Love and Thunder”
It wasn’t long before James Gunn responded to correct the fan. Although there will still be new appearances for these characters, Gunn noted that “not all of them” will reappear following the release of this mean.
One can only assume that means there will be a major death involved in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 – something that’s been teased in the past.
Of course, it’s difficult to determine which character could die in the film. The film appears to circle heavily around Rocket the Raccoon, so many fans have suspected he may die as a result. Others believe that Drax the Destroyer will be the one to die – especially with actor Dave Bautista hinting at his retirement from the role.
With that in mind, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. But it certainly seems clear that some Guardians characters aren’t going to be as safe as others.
Original Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 director James Gunn returned to direct this third installment.
The cast for the upcoming film features returning stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and the voice talents of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. Will Poulter is joining the cast as Adam Warlock.
The highly-anticipated sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be released on May 5, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on this upcoming MCU project as we have them.
