Audiences were ecstatic when Spider-Man: No Way Home finally hit theaters. After all, the film united three different versions of Spider-Man! Now producer Tom Rothman has given an update on Spider-Man 4.
Firstly, while speaking with THR, Tom Rothman confirmed that Spider-Man 4 is still happening with a new update. “You bet,” he answered when asked. The next question was when we could expect the sequel to be released.
Here’s what he said on that front:
“When you can expect it, I don’t know. Serve no wine before it’s time.”
Although it means the film is happening, it’s still a response that no one wants to hear. After all, the sooner the better with many of these projects. Of course, it’s also reassuring to know that they’re taking their time with the sequel. If it isn’t ready to go then the project certainly shouldn’t be rushed.
In any case, it seems likely that the film is still a few years away. In fact, the slate for Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already been revealed, and there’s no Spider-Man 4 in sight. Phase 6 is mostly announced as well – though there are a few unconfirmed projects. It’s possible we could see the film at some point in Phase 6 then, before Avengers: Secret Wars concludes the phase in 2026.
On the bright side, there are still plenty of other Spider-Man projects on the way. Sony has a slew of new stand-alone spin-off films in the works. This includes the likes of Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, and the third Venom film. So, while we wait for Marvel Studios and Sony to develop a perfect Spider-Man 4, there will be plenty enough projects to keep fans occupied. As for where the narrative takes us – the Multiverse is the limit, literally.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding upcoming Spider-Man projects and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have them.
