Margot Robbie recently starred in the film alongside co-star Brad Pitt. Now Margot Robbie is receiving backlash over an unscripted kiss she shared with Brad Pitt.
She first mentioned the unscripted kiss with E! News. According to the Harley Quinn star, she went for it just to have the experience.
As stated below:
“That wasn’t in the script,” she began. “But I thought, ‘When else am I gonna get the chance to kiss Brad Pitt? I’m just gonna go for it.'”
Now, as mentioned, some social media users were upset with this revelation. Many complained that not only were her actions inappropriate, but that the reactions would have been even more severe if the roles were reversed. Now Margot Robbie responded to the backlash while speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the film’s premiere.
“We all established our boundaries before making this movie, because it’s a movie that really pushes boundaries in a lot of ways,” she explained. “We’re all good.”
Additionally, Brad Pitt also shared his thoughts on the unscripted kiss with Margot Robbie via ET:
“There’s always room for character interpretation,” Pitt began.
“Believe me, that’s the tamest thing she does in this,” he added. “She’s on fire in this. It’s the best I’ve ever seen her.”
It’s nice to see that there are no hard feelings between the two stars. However, filming such scenes have become quite a controversial practice in the filmmaking business. Especially with the #MeToo movement, many sets have started hiring intimacy coordinators to make sure everything is done safely, appropriately, and with consent.
The new film Babylon was written and directed by Damien Chazelle. Fans can see the film in theaters on December 23, 2022.
