Johnny Depp and Amber Heard seem to have finally concluded their legal debacle. In fact, a settlement has been reached with Amber Heard to pay Johnny Depp $1 million.
As revealed via Deadline, “Johnny Depp is ‘pleased’ with the end of his long defamation class.” As such, fans might want to know how Johnny Depp plans to use the money received from Amber Heard.
Here’s what was stated on that front:
“Depp said he plans to donate the $1 million paid by Heard to various charities.”
This was supported by Depp’s lawyers, Benjamin Chew and Camille Vasquez, who emphasizes Johnny Depp’s real goal with the trial. As they explain, Depp’s “priority was about bringing the truth to light.”
They further elaborated as much in the following statement:
“We are pleased to formally close the door on this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who made clear throughout this process that his priority was about bringing the truth to light. The jury’s unanimous decision and the resulting judgement in Mr. Depp’s favor against Ms. Heard remain fully in place.”
The statement also mentions the $1 million settlement payment and how Johnny Depp plans to “actually” donate the money to charity:
The payment of $1M – which Mr. Depp is pledging and will (actually) donate to charities – reinforces Ms. Heard’s acknowledgement of the conclusion of the legal system’s rigorous pursuit for justice.”
After several years with a number of lawsuits, allegations, and other such developments, it’s nice to see things have seemingly come to an end. This outcome was only reached after several failed attempts by Amber Heard to either have the case appealed or thrown out entirely.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional or potential updates as we have them. So far, however, it looks like things have finally reached a positive conclusion for both parties involved.
