The fourth installment for Thor: Love and Thunder introduced a variety of comic book characters into the MCU. It almost introduced another, however, as revealed in storyboard art for an unused scene. This potential Thor: Love and Thunder character was none other than Galactus.
As you can see below, Twitter user @QuidVacuo shared the art which comes via artist Anthony Lee Winn. It appears that Galactus would have featured in a fight scene with Jane Foster aka the Mighty Thor. Additionally, the artwork features appearances from other characters such as Fin Fang Foom and Shuma-Gorath.
The inclusion of Galactus is similar to Fin Fang Foom, as neither character has been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, Shuma-Gorath was featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness albeit with the name Gargantos instead. As for why these characters were considered, it’s possible that they would have been used to build Jane Foster’s reputation as a superhero.

After all, the character was said to have built quite the reputation while Thor was away. It certainly would have made sense if she’d earned this reputation by fighting the likes of Galactus and Shuma-Gorath. Of course, it does make less sense given how powerful of a character Galactus is in the comics. In fact, he’s often considered a massive cosmic threat, so he’d certainly work better in another context than a quick throw-away fight scene. Perhaps the same could be said for Shuma-Gorath – as such, Fin Fang Foom might’ve been the best choice after all had they still included this idea.
Galactus is a popular character, however, so it’s possible we’ll see him introduced at another point in the MCU. Fans will have to wait and see – but given his threat level, we’ll likely have some kind of outing with the notorious planet eater at another time.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have them.
