There are several key elements that have remained the same throughout the Evil Dead film franchise. These elements include both blood and the use of shotguns – or, as Ash Williams would say, boomsticks. Now a new Evil Dead Rise image features both a boomstick and blood.
The new look at the film focuses on a woman who’s clearly been through hell. She looks both traumatized and prepared to fight for her life. With a face and body covered in blood, fans might next notice the shotgun poking through the foreground.
Interestingly, as noted by Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin, this is a small amount of blood compared to the rest of the film. He explains that they actually used as much as “6,500 litres of the stuff.”
“I had to hire an industrial kitchen to create the amount of blood we needed,” Cronin stated before adding that they used 6,500 litres. “When I was checking out, I had to warn the landlord, ‘You’re going to find bloody handprints all over the apartment – but they’re not real, honest!’”

Of course, this amount of blood might not surprise longtime fans of the franchise. But it does assure that Evil Dead Rise will stay true to the franchise that spawned it. By the looks of these new images, horror fans will certainly be in for a treat.
Lee Cronin directed the film while original Evil Dead veterans Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert produced the film. The film’s cast includes Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, as well as Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Mia Challis, and Nell Fisher.
Fans can currently expect Evil Dead Rise to be released exclusively in theaters early next year on April 21, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them. Hopefully we’ll have a trailer soon – so keep an eye out.
