Netflix gave horror fans quite the gift with 2021’s Fear Street trilogy. The three films comprised a storyline which took place across several time periods. Now it looks like work is getting underway on a third Fear Street film for the streaming service.
This exciting news comes via Above the Line. Additionally, they were able to reveal that the film already has a director. Chloe Okuno, known for the psychological thriller Watcher, has been attached to direct the project.
As they’ve stated:
“Okuno has closed a deal to direct the next entry in the streamer’s Fear Street franchise.”
However, they also noted that it’s currently unknown if Leigh Janiak will be involved. Janiak previously co-wrote and directed all three entries in 2021’s Fear Street trilogy. Chernin Entertainment will produce the new film. This includes producers Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready. They previously produced the prior three films.
Other than that, however, details regarding Chloe Okuno’s Fear Street film are scarce. It’s unknown if any cast members from the previous films will be making an appearance. Additionally, no plot details have been revealed, so that remains to be seen as well.
Nevertheless, the first three Fear Street films created a rather successful summer event for Netflix. This makes the announcement of a new movie that much more exciting. Hopefully we’ll have more information regarding the project soon. In addition to Watcher, Chloe Okuno previously directed the segment “Storm Drain” in V/H/S/99. Storm Drain received a lot of attention for its story which included the use of a practical monster named Raatma. With such a resume, she’ll no doubt have an exciting take for the Fear Street brand no matter what the plot is.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the next Fear Street film from Chloe Okuno as we have them.
