The recent moves made by Warner Bros Discovery as they reshape the DCU have many fans upset. As it turns out, however, Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson is also upset. In fact, it appeared that Dwayne Johnson unfollowed the official Black Adam Instagram account alongside the Warner Bros Discovery account.
It’s pretty clear how dedicated Dwayne Johnson was to Black Adam. It was a serious passion project of his, and the actor obviously hoped to battle alongside Henry Cavill’s Superman in a follow-up. With the recent changes, however, it’s clear none of that will happen.
This information about Dwayne Johnson unfollowing the aforementioned Instagram accounts was shared in the following Twitter post:

It looks like, however, that that is not the case:
100% not true
Never followed either account on IG.— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) December 17, 2022
Based on recent reports, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam ever again. It seems like James Gunn and fellow DC Studios co-head Peter Safran want to work with a clean slate.
In addition to Johnson’s personal feelings, the film itself has the lowest opening weekend for DC. It seems as though these might be the types of projects that James Gunn is hoping to avoid as he expands his vision for the DCU. In fact, he seems to have had no control over Black Adam, having implied that he wouldn’t have included Henry Cavill at the end of the film.
Hopefully we’ll have more details on this matter soon. At this point in time, everything seems to be in a state of turmoil. Projects are being cancelled, actors are being removed, and new projects are being planned. There will be plenty of other changes and no doubt other upset individuals as this process continues.
