The legal debacle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has reached a new conclusion. As it turns out, Amber Heard has reached a settlement with Johnny Depp regarding their defamation case.
This was shared by Amber Heard on Instagram via USA Today. As you can see below, she made the “difficult decision” for the settlement “after a great deal of deliberation.”
She continued to state the following:
“It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth and in doing so my life as a I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways in which women are re-victimized when they come forward.”
Additionally, she added that the settlement was established based “on terms I can agree to.” Though Heard was clear about this not being any kind of confession.
“I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward,” Heard concluded.

As a result, Amber Heard will be paying $1 million to Johnny Depp as part of the settlement. Johnny Depp will then proceed to take the full amount and “donate to charities.” This was followed by a statement from Depp’s attorneys Benjamin Chew and Camille Vasquez:
“We are pleased to formally close the door on this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who made clear throughout this process that his priority was about bringing the truth to light,” their statement began.
Furthermore, they confirmed that the full amount amount will “actually” be donated to charity.
“The jury’s unanimous decision and the resulting judgement in Mr. Depp’s favor against Ms. Heard remain fully in place. The payment of $1M – which Mr. Depp is pledging and will actually donate to charities – reinforces Ms. Heard’s acknowledgement of the conclusion of the legal system’s rigorous pursuit for justice.”
This settlement comes after several attempts by Amber Heard to appeal the case or have it thrown out entirely. Now, however, it’ll be interesting to see how the two continue with their lives. This is certainly a major moment for the two celebrities and the legal battles they’ve been dealing with for several years now. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
