Fans have been eagerly awaiting the film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s for years now. Excitingly enough, production is finally getting underway soon, with some new cast announcements sure to get Five Nights at Freddy’s fans hyped.
As revealed via Deadline, two very big stars have joined the cast of Five Nights at Freddy’s. This includes none other than Matthew Lillard, known for his roles including Stu Macher in Scream and Shaggy from the Scooby-Doo franchise, with Josh Hutcherson of The Hunger Games fame also joining the cast.
However, they also noted the following:
“The characters they are playing are not being specified.”
This means we’ll have to wait to see who these beloved actors might be playing in the upcoming film. Though Deadline also noted that production will begin in New Orleans this February. So, with a little luck, we should have more information within the next few months.
Previously, it was revealed that Jim Henson’s Creature Shop were involved with creating the animatronics for the film. When you consider how important of a part the killer animatronics play in the popular video game franchise, one can only imagine what it’ll be like to see Jim Henson’s Creature Shop bring them to life. It’s another reason why it’s great seeing this film finally get off the ground.
Emma Tammi will direct Five Night’s at Freddy’s. The screenplay for the film was written by video game creator Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi, and Seth Cuddeback. Blumhouse will produce the film in association with Striker Entertainment. Scott Cawthon and Jason Blum are attached as producers while Russell Binder will executive produce.
