As fans see the new film Violent Night, they might be wondering whether or not a sequel is on the horizon. Now, as confirmed by producer Kelly McCormick, there are plans in place for Violent Night 2.
This was shared while McCormick spoke with Collider. Of course, it all depends on how well Violent Night does in theaters.
As they’ve stated:
“We’re hoping to start working on a ‘Violent Night 2,’ if everything goes well the next few weeks. We have a tendency to just keep our heads down and focus on what’s in front of us, or near. So yeah, that’s kind of it. We’re in it. We still have two and a half months of work to do on this one.”
This should be great news for those who’ve seen Violent Night and enjoyed the action comedy film. After all, who wouldn’t want to see additional entries with David Harbour dressed up like Santa Claus and doing what he does best? Now that the film is receiving positive reviews – a sequel seems all the more likely.
We’ll just have to do the same as the team behind Violent Night and see what happens in a few weeks. If all goes as planned, then we should have Violent Night 2 news sooner rather than later. In fact, David Harbour already relayed to Digital Spy what he hopes to do with a sequel. He wants to have Pedro Pascal and Oscar Isaac join him as other holiday-related characters. Here’s who he has in mind for the two Hollywood stars:
“We gotta get Pedro [Pascal] and Oscar [Isaac] to play the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy in the next iteration: the Santa cinematic universe with a bunch of ‘daddies’ as imaginary creatures.”
The newly-released film was directed by Tommy Wirkola from a screenplay penned by Pat Casey & Josh Miller. The film was produced by 87North’s Kelly McCormick, David Leitch, and Guy Danella and executive produced by Marc S. Fischer.
In addition to David Harbour as a savage version of Santa Claus, the incredible cast also includes John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson, Cam Gigandet, and André Eriksen.
Audiences are currently able to see the new action comedy film Violent Night in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the film and this potential sequel as we have them.
