The official trailer for the upcoming HBO Max series The Last of Us has finally been released. As you can see below, the trailer mixes both new footage with familiar events from the original video game it’s based on.
As fans of the aforementioned game know, the series follows characters Joel and Ellie as they travel across an apocalyptic United States. These events take place decades after a Cordyceps infection has transformed most humans into grotesque monsters. Now it’s up to Joel to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie who happens to be the cure for the Cordyceps infection.
With the use of the iconic song Take on Me from A-ha, it’s hard not to be hyped for the series after watching this footage. Fans have waited years since the original game was released to see the story adapted for the screen. Now with the star of The Mandalorian as Joel, fans are even more anxious than ever before to see this new adaptation.

Hopefully The Last of Us will live up to the expectations. With just over a month until the live-action series will be released on HBO Max, however, fans won’t have long to wait and find out.
The series was developed by Craig Mazin who worked alongside Neil Druckmann to write and executive produce. Kantemir Balagov directed the pilot episode with Jasmila Žbanić and Ali Abbasi having directed additional episodes.
In addition to Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson, the cast of The Last of Us also includes Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce and Anna Torv.
