Many celebrities have taken the last few months as an opportunity to leave Twitter. As Elon Musk has successfully taken over the popular social media platform, many users have been disappointed with the results. Now actor Jim Carrey is the latest celebrity to depart from Twitter. However, Jim Carrey left an interesting goodbye tweet – one that includes a video of a naked lighthouse keeper.
As you can see below, the video is an animation he made with his friend Jimmy Hayward. It’s specifically based on a painting the comedy actor created “of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper, standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night.” Jim Carrey ends his tweet with the following statement: “I love you all so much!”
Here’s the goodbye tweet that Jim Carrey posted:
I’m leaving Twitter, but 1st here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward. It’s based on my painting of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper, standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night. I love you all so much! ;^j pic.twitter.com/Cqmp74A87r

The lighthouse keeper in the short animation sings the following: “Angels fill this place with light / And all that’s good and all that’s right.” It sounds much like a classic sea-shanty that’s particularly appropriate given the character and setting. However, in true Jim Carrey fashion, the character begins to burst into maniacal laughter by the end of the clip. It’s certainly a bizarre video – but perhaps that makes it all the more appropriate as Jim Carrey’s farewell on Twitter.
He previously expressed his disappointment with Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter earlier in November. As you can see below, he mocked Elon Musk by comparing him to a bizarre variation of Captain Kirk called “Capt Smirk.” He claims that the new CEO is “boldly going where no unbridled ego has gone before.” And, furthermore, he ends the tweet by saying his “Mars mission” is nothing but “FAKE NEWS.” So, with that in mind, there’s certainly no mystery why Jim Carrey chose to leave Twitter.
Capt Smirk fired 1/2 his crew. He’s banning comics: shadow banning unverified users, boldly going where no unbridled ego has gone before. Says, “$8/mo is the price of a latte.” True. It’s also cheaper than a T-shirt saying “Rob me. I’m a gullible ass!” BTW Mars mission? FAKE NEWS pic.twitter.com/qWrwD4vSis
