The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been dropping some major bombshells throughout the latest phase. One such bombshell occurred during the Disney Plus series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. At the end of the series, fans were shocked to discover that Sharon Carter was in actuality the “Power Broker.” Now a new fan theory suggests that Sharon Carter is none other than a Skrull – one that might even be revealed in the upcoming Disney Plus series Secret Invasion.
This theory comes via Reddit user AdventurousAd8436. They’ve created the theory “because it’s the only way I can make any sense out of Sharon sending an army of killers after herself (in the dockyard fight scene).” They also question “how Sharon could be upstairs in a building firing a sniper rifle in defense of Bucky, Sam, Zemo, and then a mere seconds later she pops out of nowhere in the street.” As such, they choose to “go with the idea that there were two Sharons — the real one infiltrating the Power Broker’s organization for the CIA, and a Skrull Sharon inserting itself here and there” with the Skrull version being “the one we see at the end.”
While some users agree that the Skrull theory makes sense – others don’t think so. For example, fellow user preppytarg believes that Marvel should keep Sharon Carter solely as the Power Broker. They think that it’d be too complicated to maintain that reveal in addition to a reveal that she was really a Skrull all along. Either way, it could still make sense if she was a Skrull. After all, she does seem to be acquiring the kind of materials that would help turn Skrulls into Super-Skrulls. Perhaps we’ll know more in Secret Invasion or another upcoming MCU project.
The cast of the upcoming Secret Invasion series includes Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Ben Mendelsohn will play the Skrull character Talos. Cobie Smulders will reprise their role as Maria Hill. Martin Freeman will portray Everett K. Ross with Don Cheadle playing James “Rhodey” Rhodes aka War Machine. The cast for the show also includes Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo.
The highly-anticipated Disney Plus series is currently scheduled to drop on the streaming service sometime in 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
