After the release of Black Adam, fans were stunned to see Henry Cavill’s Superman during the post-credits sequence. He was last involved with the DCU for each of the two Justice League cuts. Other than that, however, Henry Cavill seemed to be busy with other projects such as The Witcher. Now that he’s left that series to focus on being Superman in the DCU again, however, fans are now sparking all sorts of rumors to try and figure out what’s happening at Warner Bros. Now James Gunn – the new co-head of DC Films – has taken the time to clarify these rumors about the return of Henry Cavill as Superman.
As you can see below, James Gunn has been busy giving responses to these rumors on Twitter. One such rumor claimed that Henry Cavill’s new Superman contract would include additional DCU appearances as the character on television.
However, James Gunn took the opportunity to suggest they were either “purposely lying or being taken advantage of by someone lying to you.” This is because, as he puts it, “NO ONE knows what’s happening at DC Studios right now other than me & Peter.” This includes “any new contracts for anyone at this point.”
Here’s the tweet:
I’m not sure if you’re purposely lying or being taken advantage of by someone lying to you, but, as I’ve stated on here before, NO ONE knows what’s happening at DC Studios right now other than me & Peter. That would include writing up any new contracts for anyone at this point.

This does seem to validate a prior report, however, that nothing regarding Henry Cavill was set in stone. While many fans assumed a Man of Steel 2 was imminent – that doesn’t seem to be the case. Henry Cavill reportedly has yet to sign onto anything and everyone is waiting for the dust around DC Films to settle. Nevertheless, James Gunn plans to have his plan delivered to Warner Bros in the next two months.
Yes, that is true (revealing it to the wbd team)

As such, we will just have to see how everything develops in the coming year. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates as we have them. In the meantime, it’s nice to see that James Gunn is happy to clarify rumors surrounding Henry Cavill as Superman and other such details that currently remain unanswered.
