Supernatural fans will recognize Nicki Aycox for having been the first person to play Meg Masters in both the first and fourth seasons of the fan-favorite series. Sadly, it’s been revealed that Aycox has died at age 47.
As revealed via CBR in a statement written by her sister-in-law, Susan Raab Ceklosky, Aycox passed away on November 16 “over a year after being diagnosed with leukemia.” Raab adds that her brother, Aycox’s husband Matt Raab, was “by her side” at the time.
Here’s the full statement as written by her sister-in-law on Facebook:
“My beautiful, smart, fierce, incredibly talented, and loving sister-in-law, Nicki Aycox Raab, passed away yesterday with my brother, Matt Raab, by her side,” she began.
She further emphasized that both Nicki Aycox and her husband, Matt Raab, “had a wonderful life together.” She also added that “everyone who knew her loved her.”
Nicki and Matt had a wonderful life together in California. She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her.”
The Supernatural episodes which featured her include “Scarecrow,” “Shadow,” “Salvation,” “Devil’s Trap,” and “Are You There, God? It’s Me, Dean Winchester” along with archive footage of her performance in the show’s fifth season. In addition to having appeared in the hit monster-of-the-week series, Nicki Aycox was also known for having appeared in other television shows such as Cold Case, Dark Angel, and The X-Files as well as the 2002 incarnation of The Twilight Zone, Criminal Minds, and Law & Order. She also appeared in the feature film Jeepers Creepers 2. Her last television role was in the 2014 TV movie Dead on Campus, released after she appeared in the 2013 film The Employer.
It was stated that after retiring from acting, she “built an audience through her website, Cashews and Olives, which is a lifestyle blog with a focus on vegan cooking recipes.” It’s clear that, in addition to being dedicated to her lifestyle blog Cashews and Olives, Nicki Aycox left behind quite a few solid film and television performances over the decades that will continue to be cherished by genre fans.
