Fans have been looking forward to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the highly-anticipated sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, for several years now. As such, it’s exciting to now learn that actor Daniel Kaluuya will be joining the cast of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as a brand-new character.
As shared via THR, “Kaluuya will voice the character of Hobart ‘Hobie’ Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk.’ They further note that this particular variant “is a more recent Marvel Comics creation, having first appeared in 2015 from writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel.” The character is known for having started off as a homeless teenager before ultimately becoming a New York superhero.
Hopefully we’ll have more details on the film soon. As mentioned above, fans have been waiting quite some time for the sequel to get underway. Luckily, however, it should be hitting theaters just in time for the summer months of next year. Furthermore, an additional film titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is also in development for a 2024 release date.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. Meanwhile, Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be credited as writers on the project alongside David Callaham. The film will be produced by Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg. The film will be executive produced by original Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse director Peter Ramsey as well as Aditya Sood.
The other cast members for the film include Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez and Greta Lee. Issa Rae, Rachel Dratch, Joma Taccone, Shea Whigham and Jason Schwartzman among others.
Audiences will be able to see the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on June 2, 2023.
