Fans have been eager to see Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey ever since the project was first announced. After all, it’s an interesting concept to have public domain characters reimagined for the horror genre. Now it looks like the creative team behind that film will be taking on the classic Peter Pan story next. It’s just been revealed that they will soon begin production on Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare.
This news comes via THR. Although they weren’t able to reveal any specific details about the project, they did note that Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare is being developed in addition to a Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey sequel. It’s certainly nice to see that the popularity of Blood and Honey has led to these new projects, so hopefully we’ll continue to see success for these filmmakers.
For fans that are unfamiliar with Peter Pan, the original story was penned by J. J. Barrie. The classic tale involves a young boy who can fly and never ages. Of course, the story has influenced other tales in the horror genre before. For example, it’s where the classic vampire film The Lost Boys gets its name. But for a full-on horror film, one can only imagine the possibilities for Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare. Hopefully we’ll have more details on the project soon.
In the meantime, while we wait to see Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare, we still have Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey to look forward to early next year.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield both wrote and directed Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey from a screenplay inspired from the public domain characters created by A.A. Milne.
The cast of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey includes Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Scott.
Fans can look forward to seeing Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey in theaters for a special one-day event on February 15, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on both highly-anticipated horror films as we have them.
