The upcoming horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has been receiving plenty of hype since the project was first announced. Audiences are eager to see how such beloved public domain characters as Pooh and Piglet will be reinvented for the horror genre. Now it appears that their excitement has earned Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey a theatrical release.
As revealed via THR, the upcoming film will receive a one-day theatrical release from Fathom Events. The film will be premiering in U.S. theaters for one day in February for the event. Meanwhile, they noted that Altitude has acquired the film for the U.K. with the Mexican chain Cinemex also planning to put the film on several hundred screens. Additionally, the Canadian chain Cineplex will also be releasing the film in theaters. There are other territories expected to give Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey a theatrical release as well.
They further noted that the popularity of the film has “seen the production expanded with additional shoots.” Furthermore, the film’s director has a sequel for the project planned as well. This is certainly shaping up to be quite a horror film event for 2023.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield both wrote and directed the horror film from a screenplay inspired from the public domain characters created by A.A. Milne.
