It goes without saying that Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, has become one of the most recognizable horror films. With such iconic characters as Jack Nicholson’s Jack Torrance or Lloyd the bartender, there is certainly no shortage of memorable faces featured throughout the movie. However, star Jessica Alba chose the Grady sisters from The Shining as her Halloween costume for a recent party.
Fans will remember the Grady sisters as the two little ghost girls in identical dresses. They often speak in unison and seemingly exist only to create an eerie and surreal atmosphere. Now Jessica Alba has taken their iconic appearance as inspiration for her own Halloween costume. She apparently borrowed her outfit from her 14-year-old daughter Honor, and dressed up alongside her friend for the part.
Here’s the clip where Jessica Alba and her friend dressed as the Grady sisters from The Shining:

While The Shining is a popular film amongst the horror community, it isn’t often that celebrities illustrate their appreciation for the classic. As such, it’s exciting to see that not only is Jessica Alba a fan – but she’s clearly willing to dress up to prove it as well. Overall, we’ve seen a lot of exciting costumes from both fans and celebrities this year. Although the holiday won’t be back until 2023, it’s still great to look back at all the great costumes from this year. And, of course, it might just give fans some great ideas of their own for the next coming Halloween.
As mentioned above, The Shining was directed by Stanley Kubrick with a screenplay inspired by Stephen King’s iconic novel. Although Stephen King was displeased with the adaptation, and so were many Stephen King purists, that hasn’t stopped the film from becoming a mainstream success. It finally spawned a sequel in 2019 based on Stephen King’s follow-up novel Doctor Sleep. The Grady sisters made an additional appearance in that particular film, proving just how popular they’ve remained over the decades.
